Meaghers Pharmacy had recently celebrated following its selection as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies by Deloitte for the ninth consecutive year. The Best Managed Companies awards programme, which is sponsored by Bank of Ireland and run by professional services firm Deloitte, honours outstanding business performance for companies from across the island of Ireland.
Meaghers will also retain its Platinum Status, the highest award level, for a third year.
A mainstay of the awards programme since 2015, Meaghers was this year classified as a ‘re-qualifier’ for the award. Re-qualifiers are companies whose success has propelled them beyond the application requirements for the gold and platinum award level and are now subject instead to a requalification review process to ensure that they continue to uphold the Best Managed standard.
Oonagh O’Hagan, Managing Director of Meaghers Pharmacy, picked up the award on behalf of Meaghers Pharmacy Group at the Best Managed Companies Gala Awards Ceremony at the Convention Centre in Dublin.
The Deloitte Best Managed Companies programme celebrated its 15th year in 2023 and is the only awards scheme on the island of Ireland that evaluates overall business performance as well as a company’s management team and strategy. Judges looked beyond financial performance at areas such as a company’s environmental, social and governance standards, and its strategic planning and talent strategy.
Companies that apply for the award must be owned, managed or controlled on the island of Ireland and have a turnover in excess of €20million. They must also be established for at least five years and be able to demonstrate superior performance over the past three years in relation to their peers.
