An upgrade of Quarryvale Park in North Clondalkin was agreed by councillors at the June County Council meeting. The park, which is situated in Quarryvale near Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, has been under-utilised for many years and has become a blackspot for illegal dumping. The upgrade includes new paths, lighting, a play space, exercise equipment, new planting, seating and litter bins. The plan was agreed following extensive consultations with the local community.
People Before Profit Councillor for North Clondalkin Madeleine Johansson said: “The upgrade of the park is a really positive news story for North Clondalkin. The park is a great amenity and the upgrade will make it somewhere for the community to come together to socialise, exercise and enjoy their green spaces.
“I want to thank the council staff for the excellent public consultation that took place before designing the plan, it has given the community an opportunity to have their say about the project. Now there also needs to be a plan put in place when the park re-opens with regular park warden visits and cleansing.”

Working class communities are often neglected when it comes to amenities and services so it’s great to see the upgrade of Quarryvale Park.”
