“Learning on the move” with Coláiste Bríde

Deputy Emer Higgins, TD for Dublin Mid West was delighted to visit Coláiste Bríde in Clondalkin with Minister for physical education, Thomas Byrne, to see their ‘learning on the move” initiative in action. Deputy Higgins said: Coláiste Bríde are real champions for the Active School initiative and were actually one of the first post-primary schools in Ireland to get involved with the Post Primary Active School Flag programme.

“They really do strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community with a broad and balanced PE curriculum that caters to all students in the school and promotes the benefits of physical activity,” added Deputy Higgins. “It was great to see their “learning on the move” initiative in action with Minister Thomas Byrne, as we walked the school grounds and heard about how they are incorporating more activity into the everyday curriculum.

“As Minister for Physical Education, Minister Byrne was very impressed by how the school is leading in this space and I will be continuing to engage with him to see how we can further support the development of their “learning on the move” walkway,” concluded Deputy Higgins.
