CityWest Parents Step up Campaign for Post-Primary School

Provision of a post-primary school serving CityWest/Saggart is a “no-brainer” – Lahart

Local Fianna Fáil TD, John Lahart, has thrown his full support behind the efforts of parents in the CityWest/Saggart areas for a post-primary school.  Lahart, along with other TDs for Dublin South West and Mid-West, attended two meetings recently organised by parents of children in the two existing primary schools in the area – CityWest Educate Together and CityWest ETB.

“The first objective is to ensure that the CityWest and surrounding areas are included in the Deaprtment of Educations’s Review of Post-Primary Schools for the area – I am clear that there is sufficient demand.  That argument is overwhelming at this stage.  The idea that schools such as the new Kingswood Community College or the proposed CityWest Educate Together Post-Primary School in Firhouse should also serve the CityWest/Saggart area makes no sense – for anyone.  The children attending these two schools and other local schools deserve the opportunity to continue their education locally and together.

“I am impressed by how the parents have organised themselves and I have been working closely with them, along with my colleagues.  All the TDs for the two constituencies intend raising the matter in the Dáil when it resumes next Tuesday as a matter of priority.” concluded Lahart.
