South Dublin County Council Shop Front Scheme, Cllr Charlie O Connor

Local Councillor Charlie O’Connor who is Chairman of the Economic Enterprise and Tourism SPC has welcomed the formal launch by the Council of the 2018 Shopfront Grant Scheme which is driven by his SPC.

The scheme is intended to improve the appearance of independently owned shops fronting public streets throughout our County. He confirmed that “Grants available are up to a maximum of €8,500 (50% of the overall cost of works). Example grant with overall approved costs of €1,200: SDCC pay €600 – you pay €600.” He added that Grants are available for something as simple as painting your shop, replacing signage or even replacing your entire shopfront, certain T&C’s may apply.

According to Charlie O’Connor “Applications will be accepted from Wednesday 31st January to Friday 30th March 2018.” He pointed out that full details of the Scheme are available from Council Headquarters and applications may also be made online via  http://www.sdcc.ie/business/enterprise/business-support/shop-front-grant

He hoped that businesses, particularly in the Tallaght region, would note the Scheme and apply for Grants as appropriate. Indeed, he also said that all members of the SPC were strongly supportive of the Shopfront Grant Scheme which they believe will be of great benefit to shopkeepers.
