People Before Profit has announced it is to hold its Annual General Meeting in Clondalkin this weekend. The party organises on a 32 county basis and has a number of public representatives including 3 TD’s and 1 MLA. The AGM is to be held over two days (28th-29th May) in Rowlagh Community Centre in Clondalkin.
The local Dublin Mid-West Branch of People Before Profit is delighted that the party has decided to hold an annual conference in a constituency which has strong PBP representation. The party has had public representatives based in the area since 2009.
The AGM will focus on major issues such as the cost of living crisis, housing, the environmental crisis, the fallout from the election in Northern Ireland and workers’ rights. The party will also discuss the need for a radical change in government.
Gino Kenny TD said: “Cost of living is one of the biggest issues people face in North Clondalkin and across the country. It will be one of the major focuses of our discussion at the AGM. We want to help build a people-powered movement like we did on the water charges to demand real action on the cost of living crises. We will be discussing how we can build a huge march on June 18th in support of urgent action to control prices and rents and boost incomes.”
Cllr. Madeleine Johansson added: “We are delighted to welcome delegates from across the country to Clondalkin this weekend. We will be discussing the major issues facing working class people, such as the cost of living and the housing crises. North Clondalkin has always been a hotbed of resistance to right wing policies such as the water charges, so it’s only fitting that we will be planning the fight for change here.”
