Judging of entries in the 67th Texaco Children’s Art Competition is now reaching its final stages, with winners expected to be announced shortly.
Speaking at the commencement of final judging, Chairman of the judging panel and final adjudicator, Professor Declan McGonagle (pictured) spoke of his ‘admiration’ for the levels of creativity and imagination revealed in the thousands of entries received this year. In addition, he congratulated the children, their parents and teachers for keeping alive the spirit of the Texaco Children’s Art Competition throughout Covid-19, despite the interruption to normal school activity. “Through their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment, those who have submitted entries continue to demonstrate the importance that art has in the lives of our young people,” he said.
First held in 1955, the Texaco Children’s Art Competition is widely acknowledged as the longest running art sponsorship in Ireland. It is hosted annually by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited – the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
