Cllr Francis Timmons stated “I have been told by a Dublin Bus rep that starting on Thursday 18th January, the bus drivers on route 13 have directed their unions to notify Dublin Bus and the residents of Bawnogue housing scheme that the bus service will be withdrawn from 6pm each evening until the last bus.”
Cllr Timmons continued “I have been told the drivers have made this decision in order to prioritise the safety of both their passengers and themselves. The curtailments will continue until they receive guarantees that they can pass through without the threat of attacks and the service will operate along the Nangor Road and terminate in Grange Castle (Operating along the straight).”
Cllr Timmons concluded ” this means The only area along the route that will not be serviced during the curtailment hours will be Bawnogue housing scheme. Grange Castle will still have a full service”. “I spoke to the local Sargent in recent days and was told the guards will patrol the busses in the evening and all incidents must be reported, I am informed of 14 incidents, 4 of which are on the pulse system, all incidents need to be on the pulse system, I have sent them the latest reply I’ve got to the guards, I feel it’s regrettable that such drastic action is been taken as this will affect so many in our community but I also feel its the duty of Parents to know where there Kids are and what they are doing! It’s a small minority that will affect a large number of people, people I’ve spoken to are very angry.”
