The 11th National Famine Memorial Day took place recently in UCC Cork with the biggest attendance to date with 52 Ambassadors, a UN Representative, Church representatives and President Michael D. Higgins. Wreaths were laid by President Higgins and other dignitaries.
From small beginnings in 2003 two people with an idea from Tallaght worked to awaken the commemoration of An Gorta Mor.
A Lumper Pack and Booklet was presented to the Tanaiste on the Day.
