100 Palmerstown residents call on Gardaí to enforce Kennelsfort Road HGV ban

The Workers’ Party has delivered a petition of 100 signatures calling on Gardaí to enforce the ban preventing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) weighing over 7.5 tonnes from using the Kennelsfort Road in Palmerstown. Workers’ Party representative David Gardiner said “This is a long-standing issue which has left cracks in the windows of some people’s homes, has added to the traffic problem in the area and has left parents concerned for the safety of their children on their own road.”

“A survey from South Dublin County Council has revealed that 1,400 HGVs used the road in a six-day period, despite the ban already being in place. The residents aren’t asking for much here, other than an efficient road policing service which they pay their taxes for.” “These huge private companies are using our roads to make their profits, without giving any thought as to how this might impact the local community. There are alternative, non-residential routes which these companies should instruct their drivers to take. It is long overdue that An Garda Síochána step in to ensure that this ban is finally enforced.”
